IMACEL SI8000 is a cellular motion analysis suite that enables the quantitative evaluation of cell movement in unstained, non-invasive conditions using commercially available cell culture microscopes and imaging devices, eliminating the need for specialized culture vessels or staining reagents that were traditionally required.

Utilizing the cell motion analysis algorithm, Motion Vector Prediction (MVP) method, IMACEL SI8000 is finely tuned to detect cellular movement accurately and rapidly, enabling the extraction of numerous parameters for the quantitative evaluation of cell behaviour.

Offering a “Cardio Model”, optimized for cardiomyocyte motion analysis, and the “Research Model”, suitable for studying various other cell types (including neural, cancer, and reproductive cells), SI8000 provides functional evaluation over a wide range of fields, including drug discovery, regenerative medicine, and personalized medicine,

IMACEL SI8000 was borne through LPIXEL’s acquisition of Sony Corporation’s original cell motion analysis software (previously offered as the SI8000 series) in 2024.

Pre-analysis (cardiomyocyte sheet)

This video captures the beating of a sheet of cardiomyocytes. As is, only qualitative evaluation is possible through visual observation.

Post-analysis (Color mapping display)

The IMACEL SI8000 (Cardio model) detects and quantifies cell motion, and supports visualization using a color map as above; red indicates faster movement, while blue indicates slower movement.

Core Technology

Detection and quantification of motion, from the submicron to the tissue level, using the MVP method.

Visual example (Cardiomyocytes)

Video footage of cultured cells is captured.
Detection points are set to capture key features within the video footage. The movement of each detection point throughout the footage is analyzed and visualised as motion vectors.
By plotting the magnitude of the motion vectors against time, a graph showing changes in movement speed can be obtained.
